Watercolour – Take Ivy
As a designer I spend much of my time drawing at work, but less of my time since my days at art school, painting. While once I had many free hours to work into layers upon layers of oil paint. Now I only have time for media which require less patience. Watercolour is one of the quickest media in which to paint but also requires confidence as once a mark is made, there is no going back, the transparent layers giving no room for error.
So much fashion illustration is loose and purely indictative of a design, a good case in which to use watercolours.
I have now begun a series of watercolour and graphite illustrations based on the photographs from Take Ivy, a constant source of inspiration.
More to follow soon.
